FIGS are one-credit seminars that introduce first-year students to key university resources and to an academic field of their choice. Taught by experienced upper-class students, our classes are purposefully small in order to help incoming students connect with each other and learn about Rutgers University.
The Senior Peer Instructor position is a unique mentoring opportunity for former Peer Instructors (PIs). These students return to the FIGS program in their senior year to assist in the process of interviewing, selecting, training, and supporting new PIs. They share stories from their FIGS classrooms, review lesson plans, and mentor a small group of PIs. Senior Peer Instructors also have the unique opportunity to learn more about student development, effective instruction, and program administration.
